ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS SCHOOLLIVE
9-Week Training
The entertainment business is opaque and difficult to navigate. At EBS, we hear this story a lot: Brilliant creatives (writer/director/actors) devote their lives to it, and then hit setbacks and career blocks that they have no guidance for. No university teaches the entertainment business. This information is hard won. What you don’t know can and does hurt your career. You need to understand negotiation, deals, networking, pitching, reputation management, publicity, the guilds, if you need a company, and a whole lot more. We got you covered. In this 9 week certification program with Kaia.

this knowledge to put myself in a position to succeed. Her advice on pitching and developing my brand as a writer helped me with making some key decisions about my writing portfolio and how I market myself. She also helped me develop my networking skills, an area I always struggled in. Because of Kaia, I was able to grow my social media presence and make connections with people I previously would’ve been too afraid to reach out to. Finally, she gave me actionable feedback on my pilot and taught me to look at my writing from a development executive’s perspective. Kaia is truly a “renaissance teacher” in that her knowledge spans many aspects of the entertainment industry, and she’s equally passionate about all of these topics.

There are a lot of business courses out there that teach you technical film industry terms and rehash the written rules of entertainment. And EBS does include classes on terminology, such as what an if/come deal is, what terms you should include in your contracts, and more. But what especially stood out to me about EBS is that it teaches the often overlooked art of “soft skills” in the business.
I’ve been to film school and worked in the business for a few years now, and still found immense value in the course because of the soft skills practice and encouragement from the amazing founder, Kaia Alexander. Much of what she teaches isn’t taught in film school, and so for many their only option is to learn these lessons the hard way. No longer with EBS.
These “soft skills” are truly what can make you or break you in Hollywood. Kaia teaches email
etiquette, how to build your working relationships, how to be assertive, how to handle the types of conflict that inevitably come up in Hollywood, how to build your personal brand, how to negotiate, how to pitch yourself as a person, and even just how to have the courage to ask for the scary things in the industry. Understanding these things is crucial to success in Hollywood,
and EBS brings in qualified speakers to expand on these topics.
I also want to note that Kaia Alexander, the founder, is an amazing person. She’s supportive and generous with her time and her connections. She makes sure to uplift diverse voices, and
teaches those who talk too much to sit back and listen. She’s a friendly, warm guide and is always open to constructive feedback. I knew from the first time I met her that she’s that rare, genuinely kind soul, and I’m so lucky that EBS is taught by her.
I would recommend this course for beginners and veterans in Hollywood alike, particularly if those soft skills are something you need to work on. And most of us do. You’ll be in for an important education, an open, communicative teacher, and an incredible experience.

Lean into the wave to get your balance. Don’t take advice from someone who doesn’t have the results you want. Charming and honest are different lanes. There are no negative feelings, only unmet needs. Be curious before you’re furious. You don’t have a relationship with someone until you’ve laughed together. I have valued my time in Kaia’s course and recommend it without hesitation.

aspects of the writing business, she also introduced me to industry professionals, and helped me develop both my craft but my business acumen. She saw me through getting my first pilot optioned, to writing my first feature, and was always there for support and advice along the way. I am so grateful for the time I spent with Kaia, and feel blessed to know her and learn from her. She’s not only a sharp and generous guide, but a wonderful human being.

I’d always been interested in stepping into the business side of the entertainment business, and put myself out there more, but fear always held me back. When I heard of EBS, I knew that it was the push I needed to finally put myself out there. I signed up for EBS immediately, and have no regrets whatsoever. I’ve learned SO much in the past 12 weeks, things that surprised, shocked and sometimes, downright scared me. Kaia is a compassionate teacher, who instructs by using kindness and empathy, as opposed to fear. I loved how she pulled from personal-professional anecdotes to make the lessons come alive. Her weekly personalized hot-seat sessions were the BEST. They provide you with a 20 minute, intense coaching session that will have you walk away with a fresh perspective and list of actions to further your career. Apart from all of this, I am also grateful for the #WolfPack I’ve found through EBS – a multi-faceted, talented group of women (and a man) whose passion and drive inspires me. PLEASE sign up for EBS. You will NOT regret it.
Will this be you?
